Fred and I would like to introduce ourselves to you. We have spent our lives living in Down East Maine, and love it here! We have raised three daughters and many pets. Much of our lives has been spent giving care to other family members. This is a God given gift we have been blessed to be able to use.
Early on in our marriage, I began to suffer widespread pain through out my body. I was later diagnosed with fibromyalgia. This disease can make simple daily activities nearly impossible to do. I also have a family history of arthritis. In 2008, because of degenerative arthritis, I had bilateral knee replacement surgery.
Fred was an elementary gym teacher for thirty seven years. In the summer he would do roofing work to supplement our income. Over the years he started having lower back pain and has had two back surgeries. He will need more in the future. He also suffers from peripheral neuropathy in the lower legs and feet.
Although we have life changing conditions we are determined to live life to the fullest. We have many activities we enjoy doing and refuse to give in to the ageing process.
One of my great loves is gardening. After knee replacement surgery this was nearly impossible to do. I could kneel but it was very uncomfortable for any length of time. Solving this problem lead to the invention of the Kneeler Plus.
To this day I continue gardening but also found the Kneeler Plus enabled me to do many other activities:
- Reaching for pots and pans in the back of lower cabinets.
- Cleaning under the sink.
- Scrubbing my floors.
- Cleaning the lower section of the fridge.
- Bathing a dog or baby.
- Removing clothes from a dryer.
- Cleaning and vacuuming our vehicle.
- Kneeling while praying.
- Picking berries. (Strawberries, Raspberries. Blueberries)
We are sure you will find other uses for this life changing kneeler.
Inventing the Kneeler Plus was a way for us to create a solution that would improve lives. It is a life changing and enhancing piece of adaptive equipment that allows people to do what they enjoy and to accomplish the tasks in their lives.
We hope to find a manufacturer who see the potential and need for the Kneeler Plus and to arrange a licensing agreement.
